Help compiling dolphin?

mhwd-kernel -li
list the current kernel being used on manjaro

Since we need the headers for 4.9.20-1-MANJARO if we know that they are indeed installed then we just need to reboot and select that kernel version on bootup and then we should be able to grab the headers.

The following kernels are installed in your system:
* linux49

you have the real time kernel for 4.9.20 installed but we just need the regular kernel.
install it by this command, from the manjaro page.

sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux4920

You sure? Looks like it says he has 4.9.24 same as the headers it installed.

jump to post number 30

For some reason, the program is not compiling with the 4.9.24 kernel and is asking for the 4.9.20.

@Eden do you think he will need to edit the PKGBUILD?

Yeah but the last post says 4.9.24 is installed and running.
Uname says 4.9.20

does the driver require 4.9.20…

$ sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux4920
Error: Invalid argument.
Please choose one of the available kernels:
* linux310
* linux312
* linux316
* linux318
* linux41
* linux410
* linux44
* linux48
* linux49
* linux-rt-lts-manjaro
* linux-rt-manjaro

the driver has patches for kernel 4.7 and I don't see anything saying it needs 4.9 besides the header error. so I'll try installing 4.4.63-1 and see if that works.

alright sounds good.

I guess my command was wrong (hard to test without actually running manjaro).

Looks like we could only install linux49 which looks like it will default to 4.9.24.

well it got past the header error now after running "makepkg -si" it gives me this error.

(1/2) Install DKMS modules
==> dkms install mt7610u_sta/1.0 -k 4.4.63-1-MANJARO
Error! Module version 3.0.0.2 for mt7610u_sta.ko
is not newer than what is already found in kernel 4.4.63-1-MANJARO (3.0.0.2).
You may override by specifying --force.

then I run

sudo dkms install --force mt7610u_sta/1.0 -k 4.4.63-1-MANJARO
[sudo] password for user:
Module mt7610u_sta/1.0 already installed on kernel 4.4.63-1-MANJARO/x86_64

the adapter wasn't detected so I unpluged it and repuluged it back in now it shows a wireless adapter is connected. but the led isn't flashing and it finds no networks.

now that its installed could you restart your computer?

if the wifi adapter is enabled it freezes after.

removing the adapter makes it boot normally but reconnecting the wifi adapter puts it in the same semi working state it was in before I restarted.

Alright so we're going to have to go back to the drawing board.

Looks like the one from the AUR won't work.

During the build it said that it was an older version that what was installed; I'm curious, was wifi not working before?

Did your wireless work when you were on linux mint?

in mint it was working but only with 2.4ghz networks.

I think I was unclear. @thorium233 I was not trying to push you to install Arch as immediate solution. That was not my intent at all. I was trying to say that Dolphin is geared for KDE. I happened to mention Arch because that is what I am using. KDE was more the focus of what I was getting at. Maybe Neon. I am sorry for that.

I was tring to install the dolphin wii emulator not the dolphin file manager for kde.

That makes it hilarious in an Emily Litella kinda way.

I clicked on this post expecting see it related to the Dolphin (Wii) emulator... To my surprise it isn't even close :frowning:
