I have no idea what the requirements are for making this server. I've seen suggestions for 16gb of ram and at least a dual core, but would something like an A8 7600 work better than a G3258? Should I aim for something like an i5? I've never bothered with making a server before, so I am a bit lost.

Eventually found out that they implemented a useful mode right around when I was looking into this. I can't remember what it is called, but when you are picking settings to play offline, you can chose to basically host a server while playing. This will allow friends to join it and play in your offline game with you. It suited me needs well enough. However, I always have performance issues with this game. I don't know why as my friend with a nearly identical system doesn't have these issues. Because of this, hosting with my pc wasn't the best option. It worked well enough though and I didn't have to buy anything for it.
