Help Build IntelNuc Kdenlive - Stable Distro needed

Hello everyone, from an aspiring content creator and long time subscriber.

I want to make a linux machine to edit videos. The problem is, that linux machine is an Intel Nuc.

So far, after allot of research, I found that Kdenlive is my best option : use of proxy files ; use of the iris acceleration for playback and rendering.

After testing some distros, I currently have installed Mint 18.3 KDE , Kdenlive 18.04.1 , MLT 6.8.0.

I can’t get the damn thing to finish rendering with either codec.

The Nuc consists of :
240G - HyperX sata3
1Tb - External ubs3
2x8gb 2133 Corsair DDR4

All I want is a stable (portable) video editing machine.

Just installed Mint 19, Kdenlive 18.04, MLT 6.8.0, frei0r ffmpeg … and it can render 99%.

The output is 99% of my project, and the same error. Melt crashes at 99%.

I am open to any suggestions for a working linux distro + kdenlive and gpu acceleration on this machine. I need to start editing to earn a living.
