So yesterday I unplug my graphics card and clean it, but after I started the computer, my headphone can't be detected anymore, then I check the realtek audio panel, it's mistaken my headphone/speak jack(green) as line in jack (blue). The blue jack lights up instead of the green which I plug my headphone into it.
Both front panel audio lights up too if I disable front panel jack detection even though I have nothing there at all, no sounds coming out form front audio jack either if I plug my headphone into it. I play with different setting, restart multiple times, plug in different headphones, just won't work at all, both rear and front. Now the worst thing is the realtek notification keep spamming me my audio device is plugged in, then unplugged, the audio device it showed is a microphone, which I don't even own, let alone plug into one.
I also reinstalled the realtek driver twice, but same thing happen, Could it be software problem or hardware problem? The motherboard is only 2 months old btw, Asrock H81M-HDS R2.0.
My specs: Asrock H81M-HDS R2.0, Pentium G3258 OC 4.2 ghz, 4gb kingston fury 1600mhz with Kingston 1333 4gb value ram, Palit GTX 750Ti StormX.
I posted this one Linus Forum yesterday but no one seems able to help. :(
Are you using windows 7?
Click on the speaker icon from windows.
If i´n right you have 2 speaker icons, 1 from realtek, and one 1 from windows it self.
Click on the speaker icon from windows, click on speakers, and check if the the right device is enabled.
Most todays gpu´s have hdmi with which means build in audio.
Somethimes this switches over for no reason.
It is enable, but it show nothing is plugged in, it show I have a mic plugged in instead of headphone ( I don't have any mic). If it's not detecting I can understand, but detect the wrong devices?
PS:If something seems obviously wrong is cuz I just click random thing before taking screenshot, I'm so annoyed by this.
nvm board doesnt have digital S/pdif
Can't seems to find it anywhere, is it in the playback tab? It's not there.
Not it should be somewhere in the realtek audio manager, not the windows one.
Nope, can't find it, I have this, disable front jack detection option, and the info, that's about it, new manager seems to have less options compare to the old one.
And change the setting to make front / rear sepperate audio streams.
doesnt do anything?
wenn you connect speakers to the green rear output?
- Green is normaly the stereo line out,
- pink is the mic in.
- Blue is line in.
Your motherboard does not have S/PDIF sorry, my failure.
Nope, just won't do anything, I play with as many setting as possible. Even try it without gpu plug in. I plug my headphone into the green one as usual, but blues and pink lights up instead, which I don't have anything plug into. If I plug something into the blue and pink jacks, the green one lights up, but still no audio.
I'm wondering if the audio jacks got short circuiting somehow, by the power supply or the heat from gpu. Can't detect my headphone, detected the wrong devices. Sigh.
you tested your headphones into another audio device? to make sure that still works?
Or do you have some kind of other speakers which you could test?
Yup, it does, all of them actually, Superlux HD 681 evo, Razer Kraken, Razer Hammerhead, and 2 older headphones.
Ps: I have COD4 installed, which required a mic to be plugged in or the game would crash, so I plug my old headset mic jack into it. I unplug the jack while I was cleaning the gpu. I wonder if this has something to do with it.
well according to your image, it detects a line in and a mic.
But for audio you need to use the green port, that is for audio out.
The Mic should be in the pink port.
Note that i am speaking about the back ports of the motherboard, not the fronts/
If you have connected this all corectly.
It basicly should work.
For the front audio ports, wenn you took out the gpu, you mabe have took off the front audio panel cable header aswell.
Double check, if the front panel audio header cable is still connected to the motherboard properly.
I have it on the right port, the green one all the time, which is really confusing how line in and mic would show up. Alright, I'll try disable Nvidia audio. As for the front audio jacks, I unplug it to see how the realtek software behave, and replug it, so it should function correctly.
Funny enough how the front 2 jacks still lights up if I disable front jack detection even though the jacks are not connected to motherboard at all.
if you disable Nvidia audio you ofc need to restart the system.
If it still doesnt work, then its realy weird.
I´m going to sleep for now, but will jump back in later.
Good luck.
Still not working, I will try another way, thx for your help, have a good night.
you could also try to download a linux iso from mint or ubuntu.
And boot with that, just to try if that gives you any sound.
You dont have to install linux, but just Try linux, it will boot to a fully functional desktop, and if you are lucky it also detect your audio chip.
