Help a Newb Build a Dream 700-2k

No time to really research everything with my current lifestyle :( I would like to personally pick everything as I use to but seeings that it takes me a couple days to pick out a $10 Rubiks Cube... work every night, have children take 2 people back and forth to work barely get sleep irrelevant but anyhow the follow is what I've scripted from the rules any help will be greatly appreciated. I am also not entirely against purchasing from the buy/sale/trade forum on here just seemed it's overloaded with games at current point will skim through more when times available.

700-2k (1500 prefered) 300-600 per month

(starting with basics and adding as I go if I can't see something in front of me makes it harder to obtain so I at least have to start picking up pieces not a good saver.)

USA Currency

Retailer = low price / quick shipping no real preference.

Peripherals = have some to start video, 8 ram, 9+tb storage. Will inevitably upgrade all.

                Need: Basically everything SSD, graphics, power supply (have a couple but might as well.) Personal preference intel, however with valid argument I may sway.

Uses = Everything

                Gaming (Minecraft, Roms, new releases so I don't feel compelled to get "next gen")

                Editing video/audio (premiere, vegas, FL etc)

                HTPC

                so on and so forth...

Overclocking = I know very little in this field.

Watercooling = Don't believe is a necessity.

OS = multiboot with 7 or 8 and Hybrid, mint idk

Mining BTC = I don't know what this is.

Gaming / Edit = refer to uses.

Prefer FPS but feel a slide back to mmo if I get a new rig up.

Have an okay mouse but will get a new one after pc actually gets pulled together may keep the k90 for a while. Using 32 inch vizio hdmi 60hz, also hotswap (currently) to a 47 vizio 3D 1080p 120hz for movies/shows... want to trade up to multiscreen (eventually).

Old build one of my minecraft buddys listed up for me a while ago though.

Closer to $1600, but well worth it imo. Very similar to my build, you don't have to go small form factor. I can always cook up a midtower for you, let me know.

My Friend had me pulled towards an i5 due to "bang for buck" I was originally looking towards an i7 I'm sure there are plenty of posts on here to compare if you don't mind adding your reasoning it would be preferred though. As for the case I had a few in mind already but I exported all of my bookmarks from here a while ago and don't feel like hunting them down but my pov is that it's a home; prefer to have easy access to stuff such as usb ports, aeration etc but I seriously know little when it comes to hardware. I merely hope to see a few replies giving ideas that will lead into a group verdict that I can then go and compare among things myself if I still feel a little meh on replies.

i7 would be better for your editing.

Okay thank you I am currently spending some time watching videos on the mobo I was trying to keep the price a little lower on them (bout 100-200) but at the same time I don't want to skimp on it. Not sure on the idea of running a micro still yet though.

780 too op

Sure its got a 780 but it also sacrifices allot.

storage HDD->>> WD10EZEX -  1To SATA III Caviar Blue

PSU->>> OCZ 650W Z series

          or CoolerMaster Silent Pro 700W Gold

         or Corsair 650W CMPSU - 650TX

MotherBoard->>> ASUS Z87-pro

memory->>> G-SKILL Sniper DDR3 - 2133 CL10 (2x8Go)

CPU->>> Intel core I5 4670 or Intel core I7 4770

CPU cooler->>> Xigmatek Dark Knight SD1283 - Night Hawk edition

GPU->>>ASUS Geforce GTX770 DirectCU II OC

Case->>> Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl Windowed

if you want a SSD for the system, OCZ vector, but WD velociraptor SATA III 500Go is just fine.

Definitely feeling some of these replies will look into them more after work but what is with 1600? People seem controversial over ram speed and ssd necessity...I am also up in the air on win 8 may have to watch vids on it but the metro apps and other things have had me furious only used it a little personally might as well keep up to date though thanks.

Yes Nregner, if you don't mind I'd like to see what your thoughts were/are towards a mid-tower in comparison with what Marie has posted I'll probably throw 4-6 hundred at it in a couple of weeks making sure I know what I want possibly even next week then another before end of next month if not more... I don't need to really worry about case, have a 600 & 500 hdd but don't know specs on them and plenty of external usb for random things + 4x2 ram I could start on but i'd prefer to start fresh and "get a deal" / "bang for buck" ... I am really hoping to get something to keep up with the new consoles for a bit and have some additional longevity towards other applications and what they pull over the years I know I can't exactly future proof but I feel you guys get me... Sorry I'm not very well-informed in this field.

i will come up with 2 options an intel and an amd option.

intel: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1bOeo

amd: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1bOhc

Both options will be great for editing and ofc gaming. the only thing that could make the amd option more interesting, is the upcomming streamroller cpu lines will still come on Am3+ so there are some nice upgrade ways up there. the i7-4770k will ofc be a bit faster, but that cpu also cost twice the price. i think i would go with the AMD option. because the diffrences between the i7 and the FX8350 arent that big, to pay almost twice the price for only a cpu..

the i7 will be faster, but the amd will be more bang for buck, you can also decide to trow a 780 in that. and ofc its a bit depending on which software you use for editing/rendering, otherwise a 7970 could also be a good option.

grtz Angel ☺

Thank you all for the assistance once more not completely sure on what I'm going to go with at this point. I was also advised to just wait till amd releases their new hardware being at the point of the cycle we are in. The following link is what I've compiled via this thread, a few chats and my spare time. Sorry to resurrect this thread but I was looking for a little more direction. Additional thoughts on the memory, storage & PSU please.

Thank you all once again.

Those Antec cases are realy epic ☺ but my AMD build is cheaper!

why those 2 diffrent SSD´s?

p.s i would personaly go with a diffrent cpu cooler realy  Phanteks PH-TC14PE  aircooler, or NZXT Kraken X60 LC cooler.

Thank you Angel I have 2 different ssd and 2 sets of ram because I wasn't sure which one to go with. I suppose I’ll probably go with the Phanteks PH-TC14PE it seems to be recommended often.
In comparing build pricing must remove a set of my ram modules, an ssd and add a case :P
Do you also not have an argument towards waiting on new hardware release?

I feel bad keeping this thread going for so long but at the price of this purchase I feel best to be thorough.

My current base build is http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1fjnE

I am in debate of 3 primary things

mobo: (I keep getting different recommendations still comparing.)

ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3

ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z AM3+ AMD 990FX

GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5 AM3+ AMD 990FX

Case as selected or one more around 80-130ish

I’m a little picky on appearances, I need a mid-ground nothing absurd but I’d prefer a little something.

and the video card 770 vs 7970
