Hello, my new computer fails to post

Hello,

This is my first time building a computer. Here is my components list:

CPU: FX-8350

Mobo: ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB DDR3-1600 CL8-8-8-24 / PC3-12800 (4G x 2)

GPU: Sapphire R9 - 290

PSU: EVGA supernova G2 750 W

So, after plugging everything, I pressed the direct key button to boot the computer. There is nothing showing on the screen. I also bought the 'beep' speaker thingy but it doesn't beep. The 'CPU LED' is on red all the time. I don't notice other warning LED on. One thing is that I don't have a monitor and I use a HDMI cable and have it connected to my TV. I wonder if it matters?

The GPU fan, CPU fan and PSU fan is on when I start the system.

The power light on the motherboard also turns on when I switch on my PSU.

I do have my 8-pin CPU connector on.

Things that I have tried: using one ram, switching the ram slots around, switching the GPU to different slot, using different power cables and plugging them to different outlets, I also tried resetting the jumper thingy.

I wonder if I have done something wrong and ruined some of my components? Unfortunately, I don't know anyone that has a computer that can allow me to test my components.

Any suggestions or ideas are welcome.

Sorry for the crappy grammar and thanks in advance!

hello, a tv screen wont matter, as long as the tv is on the right channel, i had the same problems with my first build, does anything show on the screen? even if only for a few second? try not using your graphics card, if that works then install the driver and try graphics card agina. if it doesnt work then try installing an operating system, tell me how you go

I do have the right channel on. The screen shows no signal.

I'm not sure if I can use my motherboard to connect to the screen, it doesn't have integrated graphics.

clear cmos

Do you have the correct input selected on your tv ?

@snphild Yes, my board does come with one of those connectors. But I don't have the leds or reset_sw connected except for the speaker.

@crazymobster That's the jumper thingy right? Move it to the 2-3 spot for 5 - 10 seconds Then back to 1-2

@Ratzzz Yes, believe so. I even cycle through the source button to make sure I got the right channel.

I believe I might have a failed mobo?

After CMOS resets, try reseating the CPU. I had CPU LED &  GPU LED errors until my Asus but Evo did they same thing. My socket latch or the seating eventually gave way, cuz if you put it in another motherboard, upon snapping, you can tell it didn't move or it stacked, while on my broken asus, when I closed the latch it seem'ed like it moved or slipped. It's collecting dust, one day I'll try to troubleshoot it some more, but I did manage to update the bios using the USB option. For all I know those motherboards don't know if their shorten or mechanical failure. I miss the days of LED diagnostics lights and beeps.

cpu led red?, reseat the cpu then

yeah I dont think I've seen a RED LED error code lol sounds like something seriously wrong? Check the pins on your CPU after you unseat it make sure none are bent

Asus just a bit touchy compared to other brands, I have yet to re-seat a CPU that much in my life for other brands it to work.

Hello! I just got my RMA and I am happy to tell you guys that my computer is up and running!

Thanks to all of those who have input in this post.

I have some software related question: What is the commonly used software to keep track of CPU and GPU temperature? I tried CPU-Z but I don't know how to check the temperature. I am currently using FRAPS to get my fps. Also is the TRIXX software from Sapphire any good? I installed my AMD driver and I am wondering if the two software is useful(the gaming evolved one and the AMD catalyst control center)? And any other tips and tricks for a first time builder will be appreciated

Thanks again :)
