Hello @ll…
After a long wait i finally decided to install the windows 11 update yesterday…
Everything was going on fine… The computer restarted and boom…
I have no display…
Did a hard reboot and VGA code 97 pops up and then later shows Load VGA BIOS.
Tried resetting the CMOS and restarting but to no gains…
Hmm, this is incredibly tricky to troubleshoot. The symptoms seems like it has something to do with the Graphics card drivers.
I would just backup everything and reinstall Windows 11 on a new and clean install. This will wipe your drive though. An alternative could be to try and boot Windows 11 from safe mode and reinstall your GPU drivers.
I’d say get DDU go into safe mode windows and run DDU, and make sure windows auto driver update is turned off. In the options of DDU look for the last thing on the list uncheck then recheck this will turn off windows auto update of drivers. Reboot to normal windows reinstall the driver for your video card reboot.
What I think might’ve happened is Windows, through it’s infinite wisdom, indetified your motherboard as an OEM one and decided to pull the latest BIOS for you. It can do so I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened. Or, trying to pull TPM informations, made some firmware changes to it and borked the whole motherboard.
Go for a flashback like Giga said and let us know if that works.
beeps?
how many and in what combination of long and short beep.
go her look up your bios manufacturer and click that link…
match the beep combination to what ever is listed and you should see straight away whats gone wrong.
also try moving the nvme to a different slot.
seems that the gpu and nvme may argue over which pci-e lanes they are using on some asus boards and throw error 97 while doing so.
a single short beep is all ok.
so basically your hardware passed recognition.
so when you reset your bios did you set a peg mode. (if not set peg to which ever slot you have your gpu in)
if you dont the system may try to default to vga output. (even when you dont have onboard graphics)
also did you set your drive order in bios?
Just used BIOS flashback to flsdh to the latest BIOS.
Then it booted once into American Megatrends and i pressed F1 and went to BIOS settings and loaded optimised defaults. Then restarted but again the same error.
Then i hit the safeboot switch on the mobo and it showed me the BIOS settings page again.
Then again i restarted but to no benefit.
Now i cant even get to the BIOS screen.
Okay, flashed an older BIOS and am now in BIOS setup.
Tried enabling 4g decoding and setting pcie to gen 3 but to no value.
Am waiting for further directions with PC on now…
