Heat problem FX8120

Hello,

This is my first post on Tek Syndicate, and english is not my native language so I am sorry in advance for grammatical mistakes and noob questions.

I generally have a problem with my motherboard temperatures,to be exact with my VRM.Some times it gets up to 70-75 degrees celsius.I have put a fan in front of it to keep it cool and its doing a good job for now,but my concern is have i made that temperature rise by my own fault?Essencially i have done some overclocking myself,i have clocked my CPU to 3400mhz to be exact. Now i know this isn't a big OC but from what i read i think my voltage too hi .Also i have read that this particular MB has a VRM problem,as G45 had.The temperatures on G45 were hi as well.I just want to know is it my MB's fault or mine.My CPU core voltage is set on automatic and it goes from 0.9v to 1.45v.

Here is my PC specification:

CPU:AMD FX-8120

GPU:POWERCOLOR 6870

MB:MSI A970-G46

PSU:LC POWER LC600H-12 600W

CPU COOLING:COOLER MASTER 212EVO-R16

CASE COOLING:2X ARTIC COOLING F12,1X 6CM FAN IN FRONT OF MY VRM (HEAT PROBLEM)

CASE:THERMALTAKE COMMANDER MS-I

OTHER:COOLER MASTER MUSKETEER AND NO NAME DVD RW

Best regards!

All MSI motherboards on *70 chipsets have VRM problems. I recomment referring to this page before buying a motherboard.

I don't think there's anything you can do except for buying a new motherboard, for example Asus M5A97 R2.0.

Damn...I wos going to get Asus but at the time they were too expensive.Thats the only reason why i didn't go with a Intel platform.I dont know should i change my MB or just go like this until i change my whole config. It's a shame for this processor not to be OC'd at least to 4Ghz...Still I dont know if its worth to do that since i have a 6870 graphics card.I mean would i feel the diference?

I don't think that raising CPU frequency will get you any noticeable increase in game performance, modern games mostly depend on GPU.

Ty for the MB web page btw :)
