Headset Mic vs Desktop Mic

I usually just like to chat over skype when I game and whatnot. I was wondering if a headset or headphones with a desktop mic would work better for me.

Thanks

A headset mic will get the job done the advantage to a desktop mic is you can use what ever headphones you want and since you are not recording you probably don't need a desktop mic unless you want other headphones that dont have a mic.  but you could add a modmic to make it a headset.

Are desktop mics better in terms of voice chatting or are headset mics better? Do you know any cheaper microphones that don't pick up outside sounds? Or even as much?

Thanks

i have a question as well, i was looking for a good desktop mic, that wont pick up anything but my voice, i've been racking my head trying to find a good one. one i did find was a $300 one but i was hoping not to spend that much considering i need a audio board as well :(

People seem to like the Blue Yeti mics. I'm not a sound guy so I don't know if it's exactly what you're looking for, but it's about $113 USD on Amazon and it looks like you can set it up so it only picks up noise that is directly in front of it.

ok well ill look into it :) thanks for the help
