Headset for music composing

Hey Logan

Im looking for a over-the-ear headset for music composing. i already have a pair of Marshall Majors, which honestly is more for music listening, and i even still find myself setting up eq´s for them, also they are on-the-ear which i find uncomfortable for extended periods. Anyhow my budget is a max of 150$ and i would prefer them to be closed, although not nescessarily noise-cancelling. The frequency response should be as flat possible for my budget.

Also i´m composing on a laptop, so if you can recommend a good USB soundcard i would appreciate that too. i already have one but it´s just one i got in a cheap broadcasting kit, so it´s not exactly award-winning.

I have considered the Creative X-Fi HD, but just wanted to hear if you would suggest something different.

Thanks in advance and best regards

-Joakim

IMO Sure makes great studio headphones. Sure is famous for their mic's but they make a great headphone.

The difference is they produce a flat, accurate sound rather than a bass heavy or "equalized" sound.

Other safe bets are Koss, AKG, and of course Sennheiser. I think Sure has the best bang for your buck.

As with most things it depends on your budget...

I'll lay out what *I* would consider the most inexpensive options, if you want to spend more, I can give you more recommendations:

Headphones AKG K271 MK-II  $144 - Closed back design and neutral, your mix will come out nice.

USB Soundcard: Native Instruments Traktor Audio 2 - $99 - You can't beat the bang for the buck here, DAC is really good for a "low end" card,
