Headphones + DAC?

Hi guys

I am looking for a Headphone sub €400. I want to use it for movies, music (metal, dubstep, jazz,...) and gaming (skyrim, arma III, starcraft,...) so i has to be an "all-rounder".

I was looking at the beyerdynamic dt880's. but i'm not sure they will handle gaming as well as others.

Then for a DAC i would like to spend less then €200. i'm at a loss as to what dac is any good, so if you guys could give me some advice, that would be great.

thanks in advance

I have the dt 880's  600ohm's And the give incredibly balanced sound, maybe even favouring the highs just a little and i love them ( i mostly game)  all frequencies are extremely clear.

As for the dac i have this https://www.mayflowerelectronics.com/shop/digital-to-analog-converters/objective2-odac-combo-with-rear-power/  Which sounds perfect to me with no audiable static at all

^^^This^^^ is an awesome setup and not just for gaming but just listening to music also ... and I consider myself an audio snob ... and this gets the nod of approval.

is there a difference to the dt990, since there the same price?

The DT 990 are open, DT 880 semi-open

isn't there a closed version?

Sums up the differences between the various Beyerdynamic models.

As for Amp/DAC, I'd just go for the O2+ODAC combo for ease of use. You can get them from Epiphany Acoustics in the UK or Head 'n' Hifi in Switzerland.

I just ordered the O2+ODAC combo from Head 'n' hifi. thanks a lot wiemerimer, red avenger and qwarkdreams.

i'm still not sure about the headphones. tho i really like the manufaktur options of the 990.

again. i really appreciate the help

There are a few closed headphones by Beyerdynamics. Following the numbers I guess that would be the DT660/DT770 (or the Custom One Pro, DT250, DT100, DT150) although I can't say anything about the sound coloring, how they sound compared to the DT880/DT990.
