I'm wanting to get headphones and an amplifier and was wondering if this was a good combination. Mayflower electronics Fostex T50RP v3 and Black objective 2 with rear power. also is a dac necessary.
You cant really add one into that if you change your mind, so yeah... Something to think about...
A part of me really doubts that the Mayflower V3 is worth the price tag. I would suggest you look into the HP100 instead. That definitely doesn't require an amp, but can use one if you find it necessary later on. Also, you can add a dac to an amp that doesn't have a dac, it just won't be one box, it will be two. There is nothing wrong with that. It is the cheaper option, and allows for more options as far as pairing and money saving goes (the ODAC is overpriced imo). The headphone itself is the most important part of the chain, so get that to suit your needs. After that, if you find that you need an amp, then you can get one which suits your needs again. And then if you feel like you could use a dac, get one then. There is no reason to spend extra money.
Wow, you're one financially responsible dude. I'm not even being sarcastic right now.
Well, I've been in audio long enough to see tons of people waste their money, and no one seems to advise against it, so I try to speak up about it when applicable.
There is no reason to spend hundreds of dollars if you are happy with stock earbuds.
