Headphone Choice

So, I will keep a long story short. I am looking to get a pair of headphones, and am looking at getting a pair to match my razer blackwidow/naga setup. I had originally had my mind set on the kraken pro's, but then razer released the hammerhead pro's, and they look amazing. I will be using them for gaming and video playback. I will be doing some recording, but will use a separate mic. What are your guy's opinions on these two? Also, I will be using an adapter to use the headphones with my xbox.

Ok, you didnt give us a price to work with. However, the astro a40 will fit your needs. They are also capable of cross platform use.

Sorry, I am aiming for around the same price as the two listed above, however I just want to keep it under $100, maybe a little over but nothing like the price of the a40's.

I dont really recommend razer, but i heard the charcharias were alright.

Headphones are for listening so get a good pair of audio headphones and a modmic

Ok. Do you have any recommendations for a cheap, good sounding mic?

For a mic get the audio technica atr2100 for a mic you will not be dissapointed with the audio quality.  For headphones I use sennhieser so maybe check out the HD429.

Which is better, a blue snowball or the atr2100? I am really looking for a nice desktop mic that doesn't make me sell the house to pay for it? :P

The atr2100 is better IMO than the Snowball and the Yeti is better than both, the atr2500 records better than all of them but I'd get atr2100 or Yeti over the snowball and I'd pass completely on the snowflake. Given the chance I would have gotten the at2020 instead of the atr2500.

So, if I have the money, the at2020 is the way to go?

I love my razer Megalodon headset and I think I paid about $100 for them on amazon

I think I can get the at2020 for $99 right now. Should I do it? Also will I need a mic stand and pop filter or will I be fine with what comes with the mic?

bump

I personally use an at2020 with a cheap xenyx802 that I picked up for xbox360 videos that way I could record self game and party chat via second controller I have had no problems with my at2020 and have used it in other applications as well +1. As for headphones themselves I had it narrowed down to about 6 sets and then got distracted / money problems and have been meaning to get back to my bookmarks will post here if I get to them.

Edit: May also want to look into a shock mount etc. Second off no personal sennhieser use but they seem to be highly prided items.

On the at2020, do you recommend me getting the usb one or getting the xlr one and use a xlr to usb cable until I get a mixer? Also I keep hearing something about a phantom psu needed for the xlr version. What exactly is that and why do I need it?

I have the Kraken Pros they have good sound quality for the Price. The bass is a little heavy. The mic is Good enough.

I know the mic is fine for normal, but I am wanting the best I can get, and I have the money for both

Also I still don't know about the phantom psu and whether or not I should get the xlr or usb.
