HDR on Slackware 15

I am using Slackware 15 and just curious to know if it is possible to enable HDR. I am using xfce.

We still have to wait. HDR in wayland is ramping up. No end in sight yet but the new Steam Deck has HDR support now, albeit just in gaming and not in the desktop proper.

That is all I am waiting for before I completely nuke my Win 11 gaming machine to put Ubuntu (because of official Steam support.

honestly, steam work better on my fedora setup than it does on the ubuntu one with snap.

But yea, i’m really hopping for HDR on wayland soon, we already have freesync let’s go !

Fedora… never tried it… But I believe Red Hat is the father of which I have tried.

Seems like HDR is a little ahead.

You should try it!

It’s legit good as in I’ve never encountered weird breakages (but my use case is pretty much pedestrian at this point).

@vlycop I am having issues with my 7700XT over on Fedora for a specific game and I am now unsure if a switch would fix it particularly if my GPU isnt fully supported yet (it works fine as it is, just not for all games). Also Ubuntu is still technically the only supported OS outside of their Steam Deck.

honestly, try.

  • Ubuntu live
  • install steam
  • mount your stream library
  • run your game

 in 15mn you’ll now if it’s better
