I recently bought a 4080 Super and MSI Meg 321UPX. I don’t know if I should be hooking them up via HDMI 2.1 or DP 1.4a. I see a lot of mixed things online but most seem to lean towards HDMI 2.1.
While gaming, say for Diablo IV - Vessel of Hatred, should I be setting the max framerate to 120 for 4k and 240 for lower res?
I prefer HDMI but that’s me. I am not huge into refresh rate so 4k 120. I play 60 at 4k and it’s fine.
There are some ohhhhh you need 750 frames per second and 240 monitor but really is that truely necessary lol
I should be more specific. I was wondering what was the max I could go to?
From a pure bandwidth perspective, HDMI 2.1 offers more. Where HDMI 2.1 offers a maximum bandwidth of 48 Gbps. DisplayPort 1.4, on the other hand, is limited to just 32.4 Gbps. That only really means something if you’re looking to transmit at particularly high resolutions and refresh rates, but if you want to run a 4K monitor at anywhere up to 188Hz, an HDMI 2.1 cable can do it, whereas a DisplayPort 1.4 connection will leave you limited to just 120Hz without enabling DSC.
Just use whatever you want to and you should be fine
