The reason I need one is because the HDMI port on my GPU is messed up, and shows flashing black lines across the screen consistently. I have an extra DP on my GPU, but there is not a DP on the TV I have it hooked up to.
Im using some basic amazon basic HDMI to DP cables and they have done fine for my gaming PC on my 4k TV and a few other 4k displays ive tried previously without much issue, although only at 60hz
Correct, DP in the GPU to HDMI in the monitor. Would it be possible to use an adapter such as this one to plug the HDMI into my monitor instead of the adapter being at the GPU? This one seems to be one that will work for my need, I’m just not sure that it will be able to take the DP in and HDMI out.
(I’m unable to post the link, but this is the amazon description)
It’s a 2080ti, and a Hisense 58" 4k Roku TV. The TV has no DP ports, and the HDMI port on my GPU has gone bad (issues described originally). I need to go from my GPU (DP) to my TV (HDMI).
Wanted to also include, the one I put up a screenshot of was not the one that I ended up purchasing, I purchased a club3d cable as recommended by @oO.o. Was a bit more expensive than some others, but I figure if it doesn’t work how I want it to, I can simply return it and try another. I am able to survive without the big screen for a while if need be.
it should work fine, using an amazon basic cable like i mentioned before in the thread and had no issues on a 55’ 4k Hisense Roku TV to go from a Titan V to the TV, fingers crossed it all works for you
If you’ve got a Microcenter nearby, they sell a Vantec active DP 1.3 to HDMI adapter (does 4k60), which is worth a shot. I’ve bought one in the past and it works pretty well.
Are you sure that it’s not just the cable isn’t good enough quality, have you tried that cable in another system or GPU to try 4k60? Nvidias 700 series isn’t supposed to support HDMI 2.0 but it actually does
i dont think so, only way of damaging it would be from my perspective, different voltages on different places(shortage) but other than that i dont see any reason. But why risk it, when the adaptor itself costs a few euros, at least you could sleep calmly.
The damage is the bend in the port, the problem it causes is that the HDMI is not able to have a full contact with the port, which I suppose may cause the shorting you’re talking about. What this problem seems to be doing is that it is causing there to be black lines going across the screen, green pixels randomly popping up on the lower half of the screen, and the screen flashing off and back on intermittently.
I got the club3d in the mail today, plugged it all in, and it worked perfectly. Thank you for the help, and thank you to everyone who put in replies in the thread
