HDMI 2.1 KVM: keep one USB 3.0 port pinned to a PC while the other follows switching?

,

Hi! I own the HDMI 2.1 KVM w/EDID & Serial Control (single monitor, four computers) and I’m really happy with it. I control it from a Stream Deck via the RJ11 serial port — a small Python script sends V=x commands, works great.

My setup and the problem I’m trying to solve:

  • Main PC (Windows) plus three work MacBooks, all on the KVM. I can’t install any software on the Macs (corporate machines), so everything has to be solved at the hardware/KVM level.
  • My keyboard and mouse are wireless and connect through a USB dongle. In the HID ports the dongle has noticeable input lag (I assume due to the emulation), so it lives in a USB 3.0 sharing port instead — there it works perfectly and follows the video switching, which is exactly what I want for keyboard/mouse.
  • I also have a USB microphone on the KVM. Sometimes I want it to follow the switching like everything else, but most of the time I need it to STAY on my main PC while video/keyboard switch over to a Mac — e.g., I stay connected to a call on the main PC while working on another machine.

From the serial console help (?) I can see the USB options: U=1~4, U=* (USB sharing ports follow video selection) and U= (USB sharing ports stop at current port). But these affect all USB 3.0 sharing ports as a single group. If I freeze the bank with U= to pin the mic, my keyboard/mouse dongle freezes together with it and I lose input on the other computers.

Question: is there any way — serial command, hotkey, DIP switch, or firmware option/update — to control the USB 3.0 sharing ports individually? Ideally: one USB 3.0 port pinned to PC 1 (microphone), the other USB 3.0 port keeps following the video switching (dongle).

If both ports sit on one internal hub and only the hub’s uplink is switched, so this is impossible at the hardware level — that’s totally understandable, I’d just like to know for certain before I buy a separate serial-controlled USB switch for the microphone. Happy to update firmware if that changes anything.

Thanks!
