HDD or SSD

Yes i already know that ssd's are better but i wanted to ask if i should get a 500GB 7200 RPM HDD or a 120 GB SSD

1 Thing i should add is that i will be puting OS and steam on to the HDD or SSD as well as regular files and other stuff

The only reason that i wont go ahead and get the SSD is because i wanted to record with fraps and as we all know fraps takes up alot of Hard Drive space

I CANT AFFORD BOTH    Thanks!

If you want storage then go for the hard drive. If you want speed then go for the SSD.

HDD

HDD > SSD

Having huge capacity is better than having less but faster.

SSDs are "only for fun", but damn I love them :)

Can you get your hands on the latest 1TB WD Caviar BLK model (7200 RPM, 6 Gb/s, 64MB Cache) ? Those are amazing drives.

I would also suggest an HDD.

Personally, I think SSD's aren't mature enough, especially if you look at the long term usage.

Thank you all for the help! :)

SSDs are amazing, once you switch to one, you will not want to switch back. I will say however that SSDs are only worth it when you use one combined with a hard drive.

You use the SSD for all your programs and applications alongside windows. Then you use a seperate hard drive for games, music, moves, pictures, etc.

You can make this seamless very easily by remapping your windows account's libraries to the other hard drive.

This also gives you the best of both worlds, storage and speed.

And if you're going to complain about having all your files on a different drive, you can just use windows symbolic links to make it look like it is inside of the ssd.

Thanks Nate!!

If you guys could tell me a good ssd that would be great. One that wont die in less than a year

for future upgrade

Intel 520-series SSDs are the best.

Crucial M4, Samsung 830, OCZ Agility 3 are also great for the money.
