Hdd not recognised

Hello to all,

A message came up two days ago on my Laptop: Windows Delayed Write Failed.

So I then replaced the old HDD (not SSD) with a new one (Seagate 500Gb). After installing my new HDD and then using the optical drive to install XP onto my system, a new message came up "Windows can not find a hard drive", during the installation process.

My system is HP Compaq nx 9420 with Intel Core (TM)2 CPU T7200 @ 2000 mHZ.  Running XP.

Is there a switch or a command in the BIOS (System Configuration) that I've over looked?

Any assistance is much appreciated

Make sure the bios is detecting the new HDD, if it isnt then you may need to set it to "native SATA mode" or something similar (perhaps Large).
