I have a dell inspiron n7110 which came with a 640gb hard drive, but I recently put in a custom optical bay with a 1tb drive inside and replaced it with the original dvd drive.

Although the additional hard drive is working great, my problem is that when I try to shut the laptop down, sometimes, about 50% of the time, the laptop will turn off but the power stays on, sending power to the additional hard drive.

But the strange thing is that this isnt a regular occurence, sometimes when I shut it down, it shuts down completely.

So my question is, does anyone know what is causing the laptop to stay on and if there is a way to fix this.

It is more than likley just writing data to the new hard drive as you are trying to shut it down my question is that after a while does it stop or is it just continual after you shut it offÂ
