HDD formatted itself. Now my PC freezes on startup

Greetings

So 1 of my 2 x 1TB WD HDDs formatted itself a few days back. I have no idea why... Luckily I got my data off of it with GetDataBack so that isnt really the problem. I already have a new drive to replace it.

My problem is my PC now restarts or (often) freezes on start up BIOS screen.

Could it have messed up my bios settings?

Spec is:
i7 3770k @ 4.4GHz

Asus P8Z77-V Pro

Corsair GS850 PSU

Kingston 128GB SSD for OS

1 x 1TB WD HDD (I had 2 of these but 1 of them was the one that wiped itself)

Any ideas?

Did you have them set up in raid?

use cristal disc info to check all the drives and see if you have a failing drive -->   (follow the set up and unclick tool bar and adds) http://release.crystaldew.info/redirect.php?product=CrystalDiskInfo

if your discs are good it will look like this (mine is ssd but same same principle)

Got a caution. And no not set up in raid

Something else I have noticed is that my screen has started flickering on and off. I just played Diablo as like a test and it was fine for like 2.5hours. Come out and it flickers within minutes.

Well those temp on your hardrives are geting hot (max temp is around 55c) maybe there just over heating in your case?

That is possible, however it is doing this after being off in a 12 - 15C room, so doubt it is that to be honest. I have just got a Fractal Arc Midi R2 which this system is going into this weekend which will help with the temps anyway.

Until then, I have taken the sketchy drive out but I still get stuck on the "Press F2 or DEL to enter BIOS" screen.

Sometimes it does nothing. Sometimes I can get into the bios. Sometimes it starts fine (although rarely at the mo).

I have reset my Bios both in it and a hard reset.

One thing is that it restarts at the "Starting Windows" GUI then brings up the Windows failed to start screen.
Im guessing I should reinstall my OS?

I'm very grateful for the help, by the way. It's really conforting to know I can ask for help and I get it :)

Very rare to find a forum that really does that, these days.
