HD7870 not detecting HDMI

Hi, I've just installed a new HD7870 and I can't for the life of me work out why it wont pickup my monitor through the HDMI port on the card.. It picks up fine through DVI-HDMI but not through a straight HDMI cable.

I don't know if anyone knows of a common solution to this, it just wont detect it..

I have so far tried:

- 2 HDMI Cables.

- Plugging in both my displays at once one the DVI and one in the HDMI on the card, and doing detect displays in CCC.

- Plugging in both displays through only HDMI (No other ports on the card being used) and the display just stays with no signal.

I should probably mension i uninstalled my previous drivers before hand and after putting the card in installed the latest version from AMD.

Is there something I am fundamenetally missing with this.. or is my hdmi port on the card bust?

Some help would be apreciated as I'm currently pulling my hair out, cheers.

Update: using a mini display port adapter works. So would i be ok to assume the HDMI port is somewhat F**KED?

Update: RMA'd the card new one should arrive tomorrow will do a final update to let you know if the new card works or not, for anyone that cares..

FINAL UPDATE: New card works fine. If any one is interested.
