Hello, guys! I'm with a great doubt, with the recent AMD price drops, the GPU market became extremely competitive, and i'm with this tough decision about which GPU is the best for the money, i want to maintain this GPU for a good time and i dont have a clear brand preference, but, off course, warranty time is a important thing.
So, leave you experiences, guys, talk about what you think, everything will be welcome, thanks!
Well i have a sapphire 7970 that i had bought when they had just come out, i love it i can play BF3 on ultra @ 1920x1080p and get 60fps,i have not tried overclocking my gpu yet,but i heard they are beasts at it.
they are all about the same price, but i think part of it would be what res you are playing at.
Are you playing at 1080p? Or a higher res?
This might help you pick.

680 vs 7970 benchmarks

Hope this helps.
I pretend to play in 1080, but, i stay thinking if the 3GB ram will be important in the next years.
Yeah GPU ram usage is going to just keep going up,what is your max budget?
Also what is the exact res you play at?
Once i have that info i may be able to pick out a card for you.
I would personally go for the 7970 because it has more VRAM, and its performance is better clock-for-clock than the Nvidia cards, which means that the 7970 should perform better when overclocked. Even if you don't need the extra VRAM for an ultra high resolution, it's nice just to be a little more future proof. You can always get a 4GB 670 or 680 too though.
I agree with him,you should get the 7970, i think you should get this one(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150632) cause it has a lifetime warranty, and you said you wanted a good warranty, plus it had a dual fan cooler which means better cooling if you plan to overclock you gpu.
Radeon is really needing an "EVGA" brand on their side.
I really prefer the 7970, but, the brand on the AMD side are too weak in comparision with the Nvidia's EVGA, the cards, usually, offer only 2 year warranty, XFX is just 2 years too, and i'm kind worried with the 7970, i see a lot of reports from dead cards, in my mind, the 7970 is a very powerful card but is unstable as hell, the only model that look a little more reliable is the MSI 7970 Lightning, but they don't have warranty in Brazil =/
Idk what the warranty is for xfx in brazil, but i will say have had my sapphire 7970 for 6 months and no problems at allBut if you want an EVGA card i suggest a 680,and they range from $499.99 up to $659.99
I have a GTX 670, runs BF3 at ultra with 60-90 FPS
Last time I checked, XFX has a double lifetime warranty. Warranties aren't a huge deal anyway. Most cards come with between a 2 and 5 year warranty. If they don't break down within the first year, then they're probably not going to fail anytime soon anyway. I just like to stick with MSI most of the time because they make really sharp looking cards with nice coolers and an anti-flex bracket.
There is a reference 7970 on Amazon right now for basically $332, cheaper than any 670 or 680 I can find and cheaper than some 7950s and 660Ti's.
Amazon must be having some kind of special going on with GPUs, I've seen several good deals there this week.
Why? EVGA just slaps a cooler on it and their name they don't even have the lifetime warranty anymore (It's 3 years now) exact same cards as everyone else.
yep lifetime warranty for you and the person you sell it to
I'll borrow this thread, so I'm too thinking of a new GPU. So I'm gonna choose between the HD7970 or EVGA 4Gb GTX670. I usually play at 1920x1080 but sometimes will be playing at 5760x1080. I'm convinced that the HD7970 will be better for three monitors because the wider memory channel, but the GTX670 has 1Gb extra memory. Logan just reviewed the Diamond HD7970 and the frames were pretty good in BF3 which I usually play.
So EVGA GTX670 4GB or the HD7970, from the benchmarks I've seen that the HD7970 is faster than the GTX670...
Almost forgot, I currently have the Antec Three Hundred case, maximum length of the GPU is 279mm or 11". Will any if those cards fit the case?
3 years is more then 2 and they warranty everything, you can do anything to the card and it maintains its warranty. No other company does that.
As a general rule of thumb, and I admit it's real general... AMD handles multi monitor better than nVidia where as nVidia dose 3D way better than AMD.
So as you say you will be playing some triple screen gaming you should go for AMD.
This is where I have to admit I'm running a pair of XFX R7970's in crossfire so I may be guilty of a little bit of fanyboieisam...
well i used to say 680, but with the price drops and everything, try this card it is the fast gpu on the market and is a beast at overclocking
What kind of clock speeds are you running? And the temps? I'm falling kind of to the XFX HD7970. Here at Finland it's priced at 405 euros, the EVGA GTX670 4Gb is at 519 euros :D
