Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 2gb vs.
Radeon 7790 Asus OC 1GB/DDR5 vs.
Gigabyte HD 7790 OC 1GB DDR5 vs.
VGA -GeForce GTX750 MSI TF OC 1GB DDR5
I am getting one of this cards next week and since they all cost about the same just tell me what is the best one.
And I don't care about the power savings and noise. Also I am planing to everclock them so keep that in mind
6950 beats them both. the only card that can beat the 6950 is about a 7870. the 7700 series and the 750 are more of an HTPC type of card
thank you, i was being a little confused by gpuboss
The 6950 2gb although it is old it is still a great card if you have the power supply for it. That will give you the best performance for the money assuming they all cost about the same. What cooler does the 6950 have? I would recommend a 2gb card for 1080p as many games will use more then 1gb.
here's a picture of it http://s29.postimg.org/pw2o9156v/Capture.png
Most HD 6950's can be bios hacked in to HD 6970's that will give you some fun oc'ing ;)
cool ill look that up when i get it

tank you, i am pretty axided for my new card, I ordered it, its coming in tuesday
I have a BIOS unlocked Radeon HD 6950 from MSI with the reference cooler. I can recommend the card itself, but not the cooler. The stock cooler is rubbish because it's really noisy but fails to move sufficiently large volumes of air. The cooler on that card is marginally better, but I'd probably go hunting about on ebay for one. Expect to pay about $125-135 for a decent card with a good cooler. MSI or Asus are good brands with reliably powerful aftermarket coolers such as the Twin Frozr cooler.

Due to the changing nature of Ebay, I included several links to a selection of cards which feature coolers sufficient to actually cool the card. Any like designed cooler should perform similarly. Also be wary that many Radeon HD 6950s are binned due to poor thermal performance on the modules which are disabled. The card will very likely perform the same at stock clocks, but you may suffer surprisingly poor overclocking stability. Just something to consider. I'm able to get almost any game to play at framerates higher than 30 at high-ultra settings, so I'm somewhat content, although I wish the reference cooler wasn't such garbage at keeping the card cool. Something which you may consider doing, given the somewhat advanced age of the card, is replacing all of the thermal paste and thermal pads. Make sure that you do not use a silver-based thermal paste, as these are electrically conductive and should not be used on an open die. Another thing to take note of: buy a sufficient cooler now, as they are simply not available for any reasonable price otherwise. To cool the card better, you're going to have to spend a bunch more money than it would initially take to purchase the card with a better cooler. Don't cheapen out now.
i already ordered the card so i get the cooler that is on the picture, maybe i can put a cooler from a diferent gpu, i got a cooler from gtx 660
That was foolish of you. That card has a wholly insufficient cooler.
It will not fit. The poor cooler design is the one thing I regret about my purchase, but am unable to remedy for any inexpensive cost.
As someone who has spent a considerable amount of time investigating alternative methods of cooling my card, I can say that there are practically no inexpensive aftermarket cooling solutions capable of dissipating the nearly 200-225W output of the card. Depending on the existing cooling solution, it may have a cooling plate over the RAM. It is quite unlikely, given the size and fan style of the cooler, but if it has a cooling plate over the RAM and VRMs, then you can investigate sourcing an appropriate liquid cooler for what has colloquially been labelled as "the Red Mod".
A H60 bolts straight on to a 6950/6970 alltho you dont get any ram/vrm cooling.

That requires a custom mounting plate, but yes, it is possible to bolt on an H60. The "Red Mod' typically refers to affixing the cooler to the card using zip-ties to hold it in place. Just about any 120mm radiator would be sufficient to cool that card, although a 30+mm radiator with a moderate FPI is ideal.
I had a HD6870 with that cooler and if was fine it has like 4 big heat pipes on it so I would imagine it would be fine. Wont get a massive OC out of it without a different cooler but should keep it plenty cool.
The 6870 also has significantly fewer unlocked GPU modules, so it's going to be noticeably cooler, regardless. The TDP that it is going to have to contend with is about 50W higher under full load, and that's a pretty significant difference for such an underwhelming cooler. My card is a reference cooler, which is decidedly one of the worst out of the entire bunch, and it will not allow me to overclock as it already tops out at almost 80 degrees Celsius under full load. Not cool.
