Hd 4770

The 4770 looks like it will be a great budget card. Benchies here!

is it just me or is it like the price gap of GFX cards is shrinking... a lot.

Otherwise good news sounds like it will be contending with the 9800gt and will probably be good for people who have a intel or AMD chipset and need a really cheap card.

That's cool, double the performance of the 4670. :)

But I don't understand it's designed in Canada at the ATI Headquarters in Markham, Ontario but why is it made in Taiwan?

All the chips are made in Taiwan.

to save money

Well mostly all ATI chips are made there. but different companies like intel have places all over the world. to save costs on labour

lol, I live like 5min drive away from the ATI/AMD HQ in Markham

Ohyes, 4770 should be in my system soon. Perfect card for so many people. Although the Sapphire 4850 is $20NZD more than XFX 4770. Kinda stumped on this decision.

Actually, just having a quick look at those benchmarks, Vs 4850, looks like ill be getting 4850 instead. Anyone have a reason why I should reconsider?

the chips are made in FABS but are assembled in Taiwan.

Nope, GO FOR IT! you'll love it.

I might do =D I assume that the Sapphire cooler is sufficiently cool? Any idea of how quiet it is?

Well the 4770 does not really seem that far behind to me, most 4850s I've seen are $50 more if they are only $20 more where you are then I'd go the the 4850. I'm getting a 4770 soon and I'll be using that until the next gen of high end cards come out.

If your gonna buy it, dont buy the Sapphire one with the after market cooler, dual slot. My friend has it, sounds like wining vacum cleaner.

Don't that all have dual slot after market coolers?

i believe most of them do for now. i also had a listen to the 4770 from sapphire. sounds silent enough for me, idle/load.
