Having trouble installing elementery os in uefi

Well i decided to install elementary os on my desktop since i currently have said os on my laptop. On my desktop i want to install it along side of windows 10. So i can try kvm on linux to eventually get rid of windows 10 if it all go well. But i have hit a problem i cant seem to manage to install elementary os or any other linux distro for the mater if im connected to internet that is. Se if im connected to the internet while i start the installer the screen will loose signal then regain it only to freeze. it look like this

im guessing it due to amd r9 390 driver being loathed caussing it to freeze that one problem i currently have . i can bypass this by disconnecting the internet then do the install but if i do so when i reboot after the installation it shows me minimal grub this
i am stump i dont know how to fix this im trying to install along side windows 10 in uefi mode and it not working. here my spec for this system a intel i5 6600k amd r9 390 motherboard gigabyte z170 gaming 5 ud5 board. i want to install linux on 30Gb space and windows on the rest of the drive currently windows is install.
Thanks ahead for taking time to read this any help or advice is appreciated

I had issues with Elementry on small HP laptop with AMD chips, but I have not have GRUB screens like that with UEFI systems for a long time now.

You could try something more up to date, like Ubuntu 15.10, don't need to install, just try to test your hardware.

If 15.10 works, then you can reasonably say that your hardware isn't going to work with Elementary without messing around.

Elementary runs off of LTS kernels so it will not support your R9 390 until much later on down the road, you might think well can't I just upgrade my kernel to the latest, well yes but it will break elementary. I believe they are working on a pantheon DE so you could just do what @Buckshee suggested and go with the latest release of ubuntu and install the pantheon DE when it becomes available or xubuntu and make your own.

I just install Ubuntu it work great now i would like to know how to replace unity with a other DE since i would like pantheon or gnome style or even ow to improve it look i currently running unity DE.

Press ctrl+alt+f1 and copy and paste these one at a time into the terminal pressing enter after each one.

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install ubuntu-gnome-desktop

Wait for it to finish

sudo service gdm restart

After restart there should be an icon somewhere near the password box that will let you to select the gnome de.

As for pantheon (elementary os desktop) they are still working out some bugs with the conversion to sysd so it might be a while, you could also just google "install pantheon ubuntu(version#)" If you have any more questions I'll be glad to help.
