Having Trouble Installing Drivers

Hi everyone this is my first time building a PC, here is the build

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor

Motherboard: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Harddrive: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 270X 2GB TWIN FROZR Video Card

Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case

Power Supply: Corsair Builder 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer

I have never built a PC before

I installed Windows 7 64bit. So I installed my Chipset, Lan, Audio and USB drivers with no problem, but then when I installed my video card driver AMD Graphics Driver 14.4 and when it finished installing after the reboot I get to the windows starting screen and then my monitor's screen goes black with the message "pc video resolution is out of range"(Not sure if this is related but im using an old hp pavillion f1703 monitor). Not sure what I did wrong or what to do know,  I have tried installing the 14.9 drivers as well as the ones on the original disk all with the same outcome. As of right now I have uninstalled everything catalyst related and the driver itself. If you need anymore info to help just ask!

That's interesting.  If it's possible, try using a program such as teamviewer to install remote desktop, then use another computer to access your desktop and changing to the proper resolution once 14.9 is installed

Ok so I did that and no matter what resolution I set it to the screen stays black but I notice that the monitor goes to sleep even when I move my mouse could there be a problem with my HDMI cable or monitor?

Edit* Ah it worked I had to change the refresh rate of my monitor from 46 to 60 and it is now working fine!! thanks

Interesting problem.  Glad you could work it out.
