I've been having some intermittent issues with my laptop not connecting to my home network. It will connect to the network but give me an error of limited access, or it will continue to say identifying with no connection to the internet. My only option is to use an ethernet cable. The odd thing about it is; when I wake it up from sleep the laptop has no problem connecting for an hour or two, but then the issue returns. I've tried a reinstall of windows, updating of drivers, restarting, everything I could thing of. I don't have any of these issues with other networks, so maybe it's my router? I have a Lenovo y570 with an Intel Centrino 1000 and a D-link DIR-615 with WPA2 protection.
Did it have the same problem with different routers?
No. In coffee shops, friends houses etc it worked fine.
So that eliminated those options. Might be your router then. What router do you have?
D-link dir-615
Have you tried updating the firmware?
That's done, but my problem still persists.
This seems very similar to a problem I was about to post about. My dad got 2 used laptops. They're so old that they have windows XP on them, even so they seem to work, sort of. The one that works the best has problems with wifi. Other devices, like my phone, tells me my wifi is WPA-PSK and TKIP. But the settings for the wifi will randomly change to OPEN and AES. I have to change them back to the correct values and wait for wifi to connect automatically. If I try to connect it manually with the correct settings it fails.
Maybe something similar is causing your problem.
