Haswell or Ivy Bridge

Just wondering in terms of thermal or heat dissipation would the Haswell or Ivy Bridge, I'm actually looking into getting a Haswell but I just want to make sure the haswell doesn't get to overheated if it does I'm going for the Ivy Bridge.

Haswell does run hotter, but it isn't cause for concern. The adaptive power capabilities of Haswell make it much more attractive, in my view.

There's actually no point in going with an Ivy Bridge right now unless you really want it just for a few dollars off and strictly for gaming. If you want to get the most out of an upgrade in the future get the newest thing, it does have ~10% more IPC and newer instruction sets, and is much better at virtualisation (for non-K). The motherboards are also much cheaper, getting an entry level z87 is as good as you need for gaming and overclocking.
