Haswell or Ivy Bridge or even AMD?

I am seeking help in trying to build a pc for myself which will be used for mostly gaming and youtube video making purposes. which would be the best fit for my needs haswell , Ivy , or am3+? any help would be apperciated.

budget?

$800 to $1,000

Check out the video logan made comparing the FX8350 and intell chips. that might help you make up your mind.

AMD's 8350 is a better all round chip. It does well at gaming, rendering and video editing. The intel chips are more specialised, the i5's are good at gaming and the i7 are good at video editing and about as good at gaming as an i5.

I will not say its better than the intel chips because its not. Its just a good all around chip.

Go for the AMD 8350, and then spend more on a good high end graphic card. Preformance/price the 8350 still beats Haswell since it is half the price.

However, the motherboards for AM3+ atm are pretty old. There is new to come "soon".

Here's is an amd build for you to consider.

Its by no means better.. It beats the intels in streaming nothing else.

Definitely AMD, it's way better for this purpose, FX8350 is great. You shouldn't even consider intel for mainstream gaming as it's a waste if you don't use it for something else.

Personally, I would go with a i5 since you probably will not stream anything and games do not use more 2 cores, some use 4. 8 is a bit of overkill for gaming

The best choice for gaming right now is FX-8320 because it provides you with all the power you need and you can spend money saved on CPU to buy a better GPU.

When the 8350 is cheaper and has more performance, i'd go for that instead of an i5.

AMD. The money saved can go to an improved GPU and/or better motherboard. The ASUS Sabertooth(Rev2  Gen3? I think) supports PCI3 too. Intel is faster than AMD in almost everything but its (picking a rough number off the top of my head) only 15% faster from what I have seen. Not enough to justify the larger reduction in price.

Worded that last sentence wrong. The 15% difference isnt enough to justify the much higher cost for Intel.

i would say AMD FX8350. its cheaper then the i5 but deffanetly beats it in editing. it also beats the i5 in gaming 8 out of 10 times. (ofc there are some games that run better on intel) but still in editing the FX8350 will be a closer call to the i7, 3770k/4770k, the i7 is a bit faster but the diffrences aren´t that big to pay allmost $150 more for just the cpu.

So yeah in my opinnion the FX8350 is still the best bang for buck, the $150 you saving instead of buying an i7, you can spend that into a better GPU, that will give you even more gaming and editing performance. Notice that there is nothing wrong with putting an Nvidia card in a AMD system

grtz angel ☺

Thanks
