Hey Guys,
I am a huge fan of Tek's Youtube Channel.. and I Have a Question About a Build I am thinking of here.. since Haswell is pretty new, not a lot of builds have been shared on the web, so I wanted your opinions on this one.
From Power supply to Cooling to Overclocking, I WANT IT ALL!!
CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Seidon 120M Liquid Cooler
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1866
Storage: 1- A-Data XPG SX900 128GB SSD
2- Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB
3- Western Digital Green 1TB (Pre-Owned)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 660 Ti OC
Case: Corsair Carbide Series™ 400R Mid Tower
Case Fans: 5 x NZXT 140mm Fan
1 x NZXT 120mm Fan
Power Supply: Cooler Master Extreme 2 725W PSU
I am not sure if the Cooling will be Great nor the power supply but I'd like to know what do you think, specially for those two options.
Tell me what you think guys, this is basically going to be Used for EXTREME 1080P gaming, and Video Editing and ofcourse basic stuff.
If you can afford it the NZXT Kraken x40 or x60 are AMAZING - I run an x40 on an i5 3570k 4.6 @1.38 and it never gets over 62 deg
that number of fans might be overkill - especially when you factor in that the cpu cooler has a fan in the kit. Can you even fit 7 fans in that case? four should be ample cooling if layed out correctly. I run 4 x 140mm fractal r2 silent series fans in a fractal r4 case and set up with fan xpert2 to keep the case below 35 deg ambient only two of them are running 90% of the time.
If you can stretch the budget the GPU is your only item that may not be as future proof as you may like. Dont get me wrong it is a great card - but a 7970 or gtx770 would really make this build shine - even if you have to drop the 2nd hdd. Even if you wait for the gtx760 prices to be announced.
Well, I Tried to find the x60 Kraken here in Egypt, but no luck so far, but I'll Keep digging, and the Haswells run hotter than the Ivy Bridge, so I'll dig into that more.
and I Chose that case specially for cooling, actually you can fit up to 10 fans in it, comes pre loaded with 4, 2 front, one in the back, one on the top, and I'll use them in a Intake and Exhaust series, so whichever side has 2 fans in the case, one will be to intake and one will be to Exhaust. (I Dont know if that'll work)
and Regarding the GPU, that is the best solid option I have for now, because this build will cost me something Around 12000EGP/$2100 here in egypt due to economic issues we are facing, the USD is really running high against the EGP so it's a crysis regarding the prices here, but I am waiting anyways for the next 2weeks-1month to see if the prices become better. because the prices are killers now.
Thanks for the help!
