Hassle free label printer, Mac/Linux friendly too

Hi all,

I would like to be able to print out custom labels, with QR codes and implement these printing solutions in code; so I don’t mind tinkering with lower-level drivers etc. in Rust as needed.

Trouble is deciding on which printer to choose; ideally it should be available on Amazon USA as well.

Appreciate any advice, thanks!

Are you looking for a thermal transfer, dedicated label printer with a cutter or for a laser printer that can print on standard A4 sheets with pre,cut labels?

Thermal transfer is fine. Considering this one

It should have its own cutter. This one’s does and has wifi/Ethernet. If it supports CUPS that would be ideal.

Thoughts?

Looks like a very good choice, you have native drivers, and command reference docs

Happy printing, and don’t get too creative with the cutter
Also, glabels may be worth looking at, and also

Watching this thread because I’ve heard good things about Brother because SCREW the paper DRM that Nyko has.

I’ve gotten the impression that Seiko (SII) are more durable/reliable but Brother seems to be among the better ones. Dymo and Zebra isn’t all that reliable for volumes for that’s your use case.

Same with Dymo. Buyer tread carefully!

I picked up a few z4m printers for around $50 on ebay and setup a cups print server (any linux distro). They have been working for years.
