Hardware Pass Through for Linux

Hey guys I have a 780 ti and a 4930k intel processor. I was wondering if I could do a hardware passthrough so I could switch to linux. I want to switch to linux over this coming break when I will have time to do it. I was wondering if this hardware would allow me to do it?

It should, as the 4930k has VT-d ( IOMMU). Don't forget though if you're doing it for gaming on a virtualized Windows instance by passing through your 780 ti, you'll need a second graphics processor to run Linux on.

You probably wanna make sure your motherboard supports IOMMU as well though...

Can the second graphics processor be the built in graphics or does it have to be another dedicated GPU?

I have a 3570k gtx 660 and a asus p8z77-i deluxe
would it work for me

nope.
THe 3570K does not support all the virtualization feutures like vt-d

Yes it can be a embedded GPU you can use for the host system (Linux) but you'll need a discrete GPU to pass through to the guest system, there are a few hoops to jump through if using a GPU embedded in a Intel CPU but nothing major.
