Read the product description!

haha, i wish that was true, but most likely a type-o.

I did a little digging about this and discovered this

http://www.polygon.com/2014/8/7/5978029/valve-source-2-engine-launch

http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/187723-valve-quietly-releases-source-2-engine-source-2-version-of-dota-2-and-new-hammer-map-editor

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/08/07/its-valve-time-source-2-now-powering-dota-2-tools/

So I'm not going to get my hopes too high but I will say the likelihood of it not being a typo is a little more than plausible

It is being made, every on knows it. After what happen with 2 they are just cautious.

It will be quietly released on  Steam without any advertising, the internet will go insane.

Will probably be PS4 exclusive... imagine?!

OcUK are kinda known for throwing humour in their product write-ups

*I'm not being paid by Valve

I actually got really excited when I saw that Source 2 will be 64-bit. FINALLY. A 64-bit engine. That means 64-bit games. There's no real good reason to make a 32-bit game for "backward compatibility" when 64-bit has been a bit of a standard for years in PCs. [The only "new" typical gaming hardware that is 32-bit is XBone, and we all know how it's pushing the limits of graphical and processional fidelity. Even the PS4 has a x86-64 CPU.]

I wonder what this means for the console implementations...

Where did you hear the Xbone is 32-bit? It has the same AMD Jaguar x86-64 cores the PS4 has.

Please Lord Gaben, I can haz HL3?

Oh, nevermind then. This page makes it very confusing about the XBone's true architecture, even mentioning x86 cores at the end. I guess I should have checked Wikipedia first. :P

And see, that just emphasizes my point! x86 is old. Even peasant consoles don't use it anymore.

Face palm.

I'm a bit confused as to what you mean by that. The Xbone and PS4 are very much x86 based just like most PCs. They do run the 64bit extensions though for x86 but they are x86 all the same.

Really though the hardware for the PS4 and Xbone is quite similar except for a few important details.

Both have the 8 Core Jaguar based APUs and used Blu-Ray drives and have 500GB HDDs.

However, the CPU portion of the Xbox is clocked slightly higher at 1.75Ghz while the PS4 is clocked at 1.6Ghz. That being said it seems the PS4 has turbo enabled so it can boost its clock speed while the Xbone's maxes out a 1.75Ghz.

The GPU portion of the Xbone's APU is also clocked slightly faster at 853 Mhz as opposed to the PS4's 800 Mhz. However, the PS4 has a hell of a lot more stream processors, 1152 as opposed to 728, which makes it faster.

They both use 8GB of unified RAM but the Xbox uses DDR3 while the PS4 uses GDDR5. The PS4's memory is much faster which, as Logan and crew demonstrated, makes a huge difference. Plus the Xbox reserves 3GB for system use and leaves only 5GB open for games. Nearly all of the 8GB on the PS4 can be used by the game.

This all adds up to the PS4 being significantly more powerful that the Bone. With, according to a few developers, a significant and obvious difference between the two. 1080p 30FPS is fine on the PS4. 1600X900 20FPS on the bone is a struggle.

Also the PS4's HDD can be user upgraded to a larger drive or an SSD.

Well, yes. x86 is the architecture all the same. However, in terms of CPUs, x86 typically refers to 32-bit, while x86-64/x64 is an extension of the architecture for 64-bit implementation. That page mentioned the AMD Jaguar x86 CPU, which I thought meant 32-bit. The point is, 64-bit is really much better than 32-bit, and there's no reason to make games based on simply 32-bit architecture when any modern system you use with the intention of gaming has the 64-bit extension.

AMD Jag cores are 64 bit. There just low power cores used on cheap notebooks. The Xbox one and PS4 also us them in the form of two quad core packages on there APU's .

PS4 is 8 Jag cores at 1.6Ghz and 1152 Shader cores at 800 Mhz. Two cores are always being used by the OS.

Xbox one is 8 Jag cores at 1.75Ghz with 768 Shader cores at 844 Mhz. Xbox one uses 4 cores at all times for the OS. Xbox one is interesting in that there is one OS that works with the other two. Its kind of like having one OS and two running in a Virtual Console.

Anyway interesting stuff

HA!  Optimism.  I love it!

Here is your clue. And the way Valve gauges time.

I choose when it done.

I doubt it will ever come out.

Think about it. Theres so much hype and anticipation about it, among everyone. If valve did make a HL3, it wouldnt stand up to the expectations that people would have for it. People would get pissed off that "Valve made us wait this long for a shitty sequel".

The game could be amazing, but since people are so excited for it, to them, it will be sub-par.

Fallout 4 confirmed? ;n;

Keep thinking that way and you will never be disappointed.
