Hackintosh Q&A

This is my first post over hear on tek syndicate and I'm curious about Hackintosh and if my current build would be a good candiate. here are my specs:

 i5 3570k, gigabyte ga z77 ds3h mobo, sapphire 7770, adata preimer 2x4GB@1333, 120gb kingston v200+ and 1tb seagate baracuda

I've heard the board is supposed to be good for it but I'm not sure if anything else is important such as graphics card support?

This is my first build and I run windows 7 and ubuntu off of it right now, but im thinking about giving a similar or replica build to my parents for christmas and they like to use OSX

any new resources, tips or advice is apprechiated

okay gigabyte boards are the best board for hackintosh and same with AMD cards. the best place for resource would be tonymacxs for all your kexts(drivers) things to get it going. I have a hackintosh and it took me about 3 days and 15 hours and 3 days to get it functional and something's  like sleep still didn't workout I had an asus board and Nvidia card. Just be prepared to get frustrated read alot and try a whole bunch of different things And use a lot of your time.

Whoops sorry about some of the repetition i am in class and didn't read it before I saved it lol.

nowerdays i would recommend you a geforce gtx 560ti  or higher, because they getting more support from apple/Hackintosh drivers in the future. (except the GTX 690^^)

Unless you want to be constant tech support, I would not give a PC running a modified version of OSX to your parents.

Myuzaki is right, there is a linux distro that mimics OSX if that is close enough for your parents.

That is a good point, my dad is pretty techsavy, he started and runs an ISP, but I would like everything to work nicely for them. Can anyone name the linux distro that mimics OSX? Does anyone have any experience with it?

ZorinOS with OSX like icons and menus. It's pretty much ubuntu with different themes (good for windows users, I've liked it a lot)

if he's tech savvy, why is he not using linux or windows?
