Tony Mac x86 is the best resource for anything hackintosh related. The site includes all the tools you will need and a great tutorial. You are best to ask over there as these are the people that are actually doing all the testing.
To be frank about it, you're in for a lot of trouble depending on you tech skill, hackintosh laptops are much more difficult than a desktop as you can't choose your parts. I don't want to dissuade you but just be aware that it's not something many hackintosh users do.
Best advice is to find someone in the tonymac forums that has a full log of hackintoshing a laptop and see if they are willing to help you.
Also Apple, despite being an evil company does do decent financing options and a great student discount.

I think I am experienced enough, I'm no noob to building computers and hackintoshing, so I think ill give it a shot. Thank you for the help!
