Hacking Laptop?

Not really sure what topic to put this under, but oh well. I want to keep my desktop for just gaming and media (basically as my entertainment machine), so I want a separate machine for "hacking" (playing with Backtrack, virtualization, schoolwork, coding, etc). Obviously graphics power is not that important but would be nice. Things I'm looking for:

  • Good screen, preferably 1080p
  • Good battery life
  • Decent CPU (i3, maybe an APU)
  • At least 6GB of RAM
  • A balance of storage speed/space
  • Durability
  • It can be used

Does anyone have any suggestions? Also any suggestions for projects I can try on it or other hacking projects I can play around with as a learning experience?

Any budget in mind? http://www.ebuyer.com/579675-asus-x550ca-laptop-x550ca-xx229h Isn't a bad laptop at all, but doesn't have a 1080p screen.

That one's actually pretty nice, and looks good too which is a big plus. And my budget is around $500 USD, which is why I'm kind of in the used market. Thanks for the suggestion.

Would these guys steer you wrong?

Hack The Planet!

Just remember, if you're going to hack some heavy metal, work your way around through the low level security and use the back door.  ; )

get a Eurocom laptop.
