H12ssl-nt

Hi,
I have a Supermicro H12SSL-NT and 8 dimms of DDR4 ecc memory, 4 of are 32 GB and 4 of are 16GB. all of them are 2R ranked and at the same speed.
my question is, how do I populate the slots on the MOB?

my cpu is 7443p.

Thanks in advance
Yishay

Thanks for the response, but do you mean to put them symmetrically?

Refer to the manual, either on paper or from the Supermicro website, chapter 2.4 Memory support, page 31-32.

Put the 32GB RAM sticks in slots A1, C1, F1 and H1 and the 16GB sticks in the remaining slots. This way, the memory controller in the CPU sees 8x16GB and in addition for 4 channels another 16GB on top. This is as balanced as I can think of given your parts.

Note that memory training will take longer then normal → longer boot time. It is recommended to start out with just the 32GB sticks initially and insert the 16GB sticks once the system has fully booted at least once. (obviously, shut down the system before inserting RAM sticks, those are not hot-pluggable  !)

Be aware this may just not work and you’d have to remove the 16GB sticks.

HTH!

Thank you very much, I didn’t understand the correct order from the manual.
This is very helpful

There is no correct order for this in the manual. I derived this setup based on the manual and its example configs and some prior knowledge (electronics engineer here). IMO this is the most logical setup possible with your mismatched RAM sticks, but it may not work (which I alluded to before) and I do recommend upgrading those 16GB sticks to 32GB as well.
