Guide to overclocking a Amd FX 4100 bulldozer

Hi, i just bought a new pc with a amd fx 4100 cpu.  I'm new to the PC side and i want to OC that cpu to around 4.1Ghz -4.3Ghz with a stock cpu cooler but i dont know how to.  Is it possible?

I was wondering with anyone here knows a step by step guide on how to OC? Any recommendation would be great!

Thanks!!! :)

For something that simple, shouldn't be too difficult. Get into the UEFI/BIOS (usually Del or F2 during POST), and navigate to overclock settings. Change the multiplier (sometimes called CPU ratio) from 18 to 20-21.

Clock speed is the (bus speed * CPU mult), and AMD boards have 200MHz bus, so 200 * 21 = 4200MHz, or 4.2GHz. Run Prime 95 overnight to make sure it's stable. If not, give it a slight voltage bump and make sure temps don't get too hot. You can monitor temps with CoreTemp. I don't know the voltage off the top of my head, but you can check the approximate voltage with CPU-z and running Prime95 to make sure power saving features aren't distorting readings.
