Hello fellow Tek Forum Members!
I am looking at soon building a nice workstation/gaming rig for a good friend. He would like a 10 bit panel for color correction as well as a nice gaming monitor for basic tasks as well as video editing. My question is this, can a Quadro and GTX run in the same system? I am not sure, but I think that they require separate drivers, and I didn't know if the two would work in the same system.
Thanks a ton!!
Yes. they just won't work on the same thing at the same time. so if gaming then the quadro does nothing if video rendering the gtx does nothing
So If the Quadro were connected to one monitor and the GTX cards were attached to another monitor they would both render the monitors independently? And the Quadro driver wouldn't effect the performance of the GTX cards and vice versa?
So if the person were to game and the displays are connected to the quadro would the games use the GForce cards?
Most likely it would use the GPU the screen is connected to.
I don't think its impossible, however it might be tricky to get working.
Thanks for all of your help!
So to keep Hickory's tread going... If you had a Quadro and a GTX, would you want a video switch or KVM that connected both cards to one (or more monitors). Then you would select which input you wanted to feed to the monitor(s)???
Thanks
Jesus, someone quoted me? Anyway basically if you want a rig with both a quadro and geforce card then you will need to connect the screen up twice. once to each card. Use the quadro for colour sensitive tasks and then switch the monitor to use the geforce card for gaming. You may have to disable the cards through the control panel when gaming but otherwise it should work.
