So I recently changed gpu from a 7850 to a Nvidia GTX 960 OC 2gb. I have Gigabyte Z77-DS3H mobo. Now, when i turn on my pc the splash screen hangs and it boots into windows 8. But when i disconnect the pci-e from the 960 and connect the hdmi to my mobo it runs perfectly. Please i need help or else im returning it and going back to Radeon. Appreciate the help guys.
Are you on windows 10 and are you on the latest drivers?
Did you uninstall the AMD drivers?
No, on windows 8 and have the latest drivers
No i haven't. What program should i use
Having AMD drivers on the system while, also running Nvidia drivers will mess with things. Just go into control panel and uninstall all of AMDs software. See if it fixes it.
I will tomorrow. I gotta wake up early tomorrow. I know it's a known issue if you search around the internet.
Just do fresh install if you can to avoid any weird problems.
You think if it doesn't work I can download the ASUS gtx 960 drivers?
there is no "Exclusive" drivers. you get the drivers directly from Nvidia's website.
you should uninstall the amd drivers first.
otherwise you can run into issues like that.
I think I'm just going to return it. I cleaned all the drivers, even updated to windows 10. It seems that my motherboard or the card have an issue. Even when i install the card on the mobo my computer doesn't turn on right. That's before even getting the drivers etc. Bc it gets stuck on the splash screen regardless. It might be a defective card, who knows.
I finally got it fixed!!!
what did you do?
Updated my BIOS hahaha pretty weird how nothing didn't want to work bc of a software issue.
It's windows, if it's broken reinstall it, unless you don't have your data backed up that is.
