Gtx 770 weird fps drops

Specs:
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770
AMD FX-8350 OC @ 4.33ghz
16gb dual channel corsair vengeance
Asus M5A97 LE R2.0
2tb seagate sshd

Recently I have been getting a weird fps drop in the games I have been playing. It happens about every 4 minutes for about 30 seconds, then goes back up. I say its a weird fps drop because it doesn't dip to a random frame. While playing CSGO my fps will be at 180 and drop to 60 even like vsync. In GTA 5, it drops from 60 with vsync to exactly 30. It seems to cut the fps in half or round like fraps would while recording. I checked my temperatures and everything was fine, nothing above 45c. I also checked if my gpu was dusty, I sprayed a air can to it just in case and still get frame drops. This leads me to think I have set a setting in a nvidia program that makes my gpu slow down when reaching a certain temperature. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be?

Also this is the 770 when dropping frames. Is it throttling?

Take vsync off, vsync setings are 30,60fps if you drop bellow 45fps vsync will set the fps to 30fps

I have done that and it drops to 40-50 fps. I'm mostly trying to find out what is causing the drop. I have a 650w power supply so I don't think that is the issue.

I just uninstalled all drivers with DDU. Just ran GTA V. Still dropping fps. I realized no matter where I am in the game the fps will drop for about 30 seconds. In a area getting 90fps dropping to 30. Then in another area getting 150fps dropping to 55-60. Any reason for this or what could be causing it?

Well your motherboard the Asus M5A97LE is not realy the best board to pair with a powerhungry 8 core chip.
It realy lacks on a decent vreg design.
So it could be that your cpu gets voltage throttled due overheating vrm´s and mosfets.
I would suggest to monitor the gpu ussage with msi afterburner, and also monitor the system temps.

Could also be a cpu bottleneck in general.
CS go is a cpu bound game.

All my temps are fine while playing any game. I used to have a problem with the mobo getting hot and causing fps drops. I got water cooling for my cpu and since then my mosfets on the motherboard have been fine.

well watercooling the cpu, only improves heat dissipation from the cpu, which basicly means that the cpu will run cooler.

This has basicly no impact on the power cirquit of the motherboard, aka vreg design.

Well before I had the water cooler, I have a evo 212 on my cpu which gave the case and mobo bad air flow which caused the heating of the mobo. With the water cooling now the motherboard is much cooler and has better ventilation.

Here is gta V with msi after burner

I think it is the motherboard getting hot again. I was watching Open hardware monitor and as soon as it hit 67c the fps dropped and the heat dropped to 56c. Would buying some mosfet cooling solf this issue? I could just buy some mosfet heatsinks for 10$ or get a whole new motherboard for 150$?

It would be preferable to get a new board. That board, no matter the heatsink is still limited to a weak vrm design that isn't really sufficient for an 8350's power needs. You could grab this one for a nice but still somewhat cheap board: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-970performance

Will probably go with a new board. Just hoping that is whats causing the fps drops.

well my question to you,
are you a diehard CS go player, and do you wish more stable and higher minimum fps in that particular game?

If so, then you might concider a jump to an haswell i5 maybe.

Of course take the numbers with a grain of salt, But it might be an interesting chart.

CS go looks cpu bound obviously. :)

Unfortunatly, i personaly stopped recommending that particular Asrock 970 performance board for now.

I have readed allot of complaints about overheating vrm issues, still not sure if that is an serious issue or not.
I´m still researching it.

If @MusicRush decides to stay amd, then i could recommend some decent AM3+ boards if he likes to.

For arround $150,- there will be enough choice for some decent boards.

Did not know this was an issue. I will be sure to make note of it going into the future. I'd then recommend the msi gaming 970 for a low price am3+, unless there is something with that board that I haven't heard either.

Yeah i will investigate it a bit further wenn i have more time.
I just noticed that allot of people where complaining about it.

The Msi 970 Gaming also runs a bit hot, wenn you wanne overclock an FX8 core on it. But till now i have not heard or seen major issues with it yet.

Few sources about the Msi 970A gaming:
