I can get either of these cards, but I only do 1080p gaming. So I was wondering if I should get the 780 for an upgrade path for my monitor, or should i get the 770 and buy a SSD also.
I have the Gigabyte Version (2GB) of GTX 770 and i am quite pleased with it @1920X1200. If you can tolerate 40+ seconds of boot time, a 780 would be a better performer (it will worth it only at very demanding games, though).
Check also the AMD R9 290(non x) , i haven't seen any specs, but it is probably in the middle of those two
