I recently bought an MSI GTX 660ti power edition gpu, and i was wondering if it can handle doing 3 monitor gaming. I’ve read some reviews which say that it doesn't hold up that well due to its 192 bit memory bus, but what if i were to SLI would it be able to cope better?
i would like to ask another question, this does relate to my previous. So, is it possible to sli a gtx 660 ti with a 670, or does it has to be the same model?
You can't SLI a 660Ti with a 670. If you want to do multi monitors I would say you'd be better off getting a 7970 because it's usually just better to have one powerfull card then to use multi GPU setups as they can be a pain. It has the RAM and power to run 3 monitors well and also comes with like 2 games for free right now so that's a bonus. If you like Nvidia more you can go with a 4GB 670/680 but it will cost you more especially if you don't like reference design coolers.
ok i have a the same graphics card and it handles it fine not at the highest settings on the AAA titles like crysis 2, but for example games like dishonored you can run at maximum with no slow downs on tree monitors but if you're expecting to game crysis 2 at 60 fps on any setting then you're gonna need two.
How is that possible? How much better is the 660ti than the 7870 overclocked? I'd like to know because Dishonored at ultra maxed out settings with forced post processing enabled and overclocked 200mhz abock stock on gpu and memory to 5ghz my 7870 was pulling 60fps (locked down by v-sync) on like 90% of Dishonored and only went down to about 47-55 on those long ass boat rides with lots of scenery.
Might have something to do with the fact I had "BEYOND" ultra settings by forcing extra post processing effects, but the benchmarks I've read have put the 660ti not that far ahead of an overclocked 7870, if not putting the 660ti far behind simply due to the smaller memory bus of 192bit vs the 7870s 256bit.
look for yourself how it fares against a stock GTX 670.
P.S. I'm trying to say I game on a single 1920X1080 monitor and I pull 50 fps average on the most demanding moments of that game with a SAFE overclock, and only the stock 20% overvoltage which comes built in as an option on Catylist. It doesn't make sense how the 660ti is outperforming a GTX 670 with 3 monitors, unless all monitors are 720p? I could see that mabe being the case. Or liquid cooling? But still, what I'm hearing from you sounds like a tall tale.
