I was just looking for any news on the release dates of the GTX 660's and stumbled upon this:
Information coming out of Overclockers.co.uk has Andrew Gibson (Overclockers.co.uk) quoted as "660Ti, you have zero chance, its approx 6 months away........" Originally posted last April 26, 2012, 15:58
And his quote has been in nearly everywhere I look about GTX 660's...
What do you guys think of this? It may just be part of the rumor mill since Nvidia has no say on the GTX 660's anyway. But I sure hope it won't take that long. I don't have any plans on getting a 670 (though it sounds hella nice) so I was hoping to get a 660 for my new build. Sigh
Got no plans on heavy gaming so I'm settling for that particular card; I could settle for either the 560 or 570 right now, but thought I might as well get all the latest gen parts for my new build. IDK...
Im a regular on OCUK and have known Gibbo for years. He never spreads romours, hes very proffesional and is 'in' with many of the manufactures and companies themselves (he gets very good deals and allot of stock even compared to US stores) everything he has ever said about any GPU release has been true, he is always bang on the money with things like this. So you may have to wait!
maybe they're waiting because they are still having great sales on the 560ti. idk just spitballing i guess.
Whoa! Seems like I really have to wait LOL
I was really considering a 560 but I might regret it later on...
I was looking into the 560ti... but like I mentioned, I thought it would be a great idea to get the latest gen. The wait is gonna kill me.
I would just bite the bullet and get a 670 instead.
Yeh the fact Gibbo said it means its pretty much what Nvidia said....
Nvidia are still shifting all their 'last gen' cards and want to sell the 670 and keep it overpriced to make as much as possible, you cant blame them this is buisness (the 670 cost hardly anything to manufacture and less than a 6870, they are making allot of $$$ off each one)
LOL I think I am gonna end up buying a GTX 670... getting a good deal for them here from a local shop.
Was just gonna make a simple media editing PC but I am ending up making a pretty decent gaming rig afterall LOL
I am suddenly considering a 670 card... LOL it is either a GTX 670 or the Gainward 560 with 448 CUDA cores.
670 isnt far off Two 660 448's/570's
I would deffo get the 670if you can afford it.
Yeah, it looks as though the 670 is something I might purchase. But the price might really hurt me.
I am just trying to build a fast media editor of a rig, so I'm getting me a 3770...
I just fear, would getting a 670 be overkill for my needs and my wallet? Won't be touching that many games that's why.
I read at http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2402021,00.asp about the computing power of a kepler compared to a fermi; it mentioned that the fermi's still compute better for general purpose.
How badly hurt will I be if I skip on the kepler's and the PCIe 3.0?
If you're just going to be doing media editing mainly, then I would just get a GTX 560 TI. When I'm rendering videos, my application only uses 50 percent of one of my GTX 580s. A GTX 560 TI should be perfect for media editing, unless the program I use is just wacked.
Might grab me the Gainward 560ti with 448 CUDA cores... Those extra CUDA might be useful with my media editing. Plus if ever I get stressed out at school, a few games here and there would still be fine with it.
I might wait a bit longer like mid-June before I make my GPU purchase LOL Either for a price drop or I might just win the lottery within that time frame.
