Gtx 580 sli or single gtx 680?

hey new here and im having a hard time choosing between gtx 580 sli or a single gtx 680 i can get either for roughy the same price what would be better to go with for best performance ?

I would take the 680 becuase of it will run cooler and with less power than 2 cards and then you can buy another 680 when it is needed

Where are you people getting this info? the 680 is at best a 35% increase over the 580 so the SLI will beat that in all but the worst optimized SLI games.

SLI performance scaling is well above that 15%,

GTX 680 is not that much better than GTX580 that it beats two of them. I would say sli GTX580.

i would say gtx 680, so u can upgrade to sli down the road and get a some more performance down the road

Thanks for the help guys this im gona pic up the 580s for now and sell my rig nig next year and go intel if amd dont pull somthing out of the hat :)

Lol, I love how ironic your post is, eschippers. He got a GTX 580 a little while ago, and probably had people tell him that he could SLI down the road with those. Now the GTX 680s are out and people are telling him to get a GTX 680 instead of going with SLI, so that he can SLI the GTX 680s sometime down the road.

I bet if he did get a GTX 680 now and plan on putting it in SLI sometime down the road, people would be telling him to get a GTX 780 instead of getting another GTX 680 to SLI.

Anyway, the dual GTX 580s are going to give you the most performance.
