GTX 1070, Fury X or something else?

I am buying a gpu within a couple days, and I would like the perspective of this community. The main thing is, is the 4gb Vram a limit on 4k gaming? I can get the fury x for 360 dollars, but I will have to buy a converter to get it to HDMI 2.0 4k 60hz. So, which way should I go?

I will also be getting a Vive, and that's a whole different story.

1070 is quite a bit more powerful at 4K... Also eats way less power...
Being an AMD fanboy, i would say If you can get 1070 under or around 400 - go for 1070... Else rather not...

As for Vive - keep in mind Nvidia cards had some weird issue with Vive, and if you plug your monitor into the HDMI you may not be able to plug in the Vive...

What about the 1070 Sea Hawk? I can get it for 491 dollars.

Nvidia CEO Jen Hsun with some false advertised 1070 pricing...

Too much... $500 are just too much for this piece of shit... Especially when

If you find 1070 near the 400 mark - yes... 500 is way too expensive...

You can get a zotac amp extremecore for about 420. I just wonder how quiet and cool all these cards are. I know the sea hawk will be fantastically quiet. That's why I brought it up.

If you're invested in DX12 or Vulkan, Fury X is a great choice. If you want the fastest now out of the two, it's 1070.

From that point forward the question is how much are you willing to pay... I think 500 is way too much, no matter the silence. I would rather spend 30% less - 350, and get 10-12%lower performance numbers.
BUT... If you have the money are really want those 10% performance - go for it.

Well, how much do you think the next Vega card is going to be?

Realistically it's going to be 360, and it's 20% more cost for 10~12% more performance. This is going to require some thought.

I don't see one review of this card. I might buy it and review it for science.

10% out of 500 is 50... 30% is 150... 500 - 30% = 500 - 150 = 350... Roughly...
But yes, you just need to decide, if for you the performance difference is worth the price difference.
The other thing is, are you willing to pay extra 100$ just for overclock and silence...

I don't know, but it's a thought that makes me drool... though that could be an aneuyrism forming from stupidity. I managed to work it down to 480 dollars... woo? I'll spend the day thinking about it. I will either go with the 1070 amp or the Sea Hawk. I don't have a freesync monitor, and while it's true that the Fury/Fury X will make gains that might actually bring it to the 1070/1080, I will probably be on a vega card by then. So... fuck it.

So, if I choose the seahawk... expect a 4K review on the card.

Well, Polaris targets the Budget market, and the Vega will target the mid to high end market. So depending on the SKU we'll probably see cards in the range of $400-600.

Well, the Fury X came out at $650 dollars. I highly doubt the next card will be anywhere near the $500 dollar barrier. But, I could be wrong. AMD might sucker punch nVidia with its release.

All speculation at this point. But given that Polaris covers everything up to around the 300,- mark, everything above that will be vega-land and the sky is the limit.

Right now I am running a Sapphire Fury Nitro and it is great but I am also on linux and I am only playing at 1080p.

Still, fuck nvidia.

FuryX has better openGL performance than literally every other card on the market right now (except 295X2 but no one would buy one).

I'm on linux, but I'm moving to 4k... so that's kind of important. I will probably make the purchase tonight.

That is sort of true, but in games the 1070 wins on OpenGL in most scenarios.

Mmmmno, the fury X is kicking the 1070's ass at the moment. Theres a lot of tests AdoredTV has done and the latest one was doom.

Doom is to be expected, and I would be pissed if it wasn't. Hmmm, I will look at it again.
