Hi,
I'm from the UK looking at the GTX 1060s that are on the market now.
Don't want to spend more than £250 and don't need to overclock.
I was thinking about 3 options:
1) EVGA GTX 1060 Custom Single fan 6GB - £238.99
2) Palit GTX 1060 Dual 6GB - £245.99
3) Zotac GTX 1060 Mini 6GB - £233.99
Which one of the above should I order? Any other suggestions would be appreciated too.
If you don't care about overclocking then just get whatever looks the nicest to you. They're all pretty much the same chips.
Personally if I didn't care about overclocking I'd go for the smallest model available just in case I wanted to build a portable LAN rig.
On the contrary, even without overclocking, larger cooler means lower thermals, so from those choices i would go for the Palit one, for the simple reason of having 2 fans instead of 1 fan. 2 fans, lower RPM of the fans, quieter work. So you have cool and quiet.
If i have to choose, i would not choose 1060 at all, but from those choices, i would take the Palit one, because of the better cooling, no matter the overclock.
i would compair on stock and boost clocks out of the box and make a decission based on that.
Allthough EVGA cards are decent.
Well I can't afford the 1070, and the RX480 seems to be beaten in DX11 which will be what I am playing - I don't want to be waiting for the gap to be closed if you get me in regards to DX12 and Vulkan, as well as the usual AMD driver improvements.
Anyways, thanks regarding the model - the Palit looks good then.
@MisteryAngel
I'm not too bothered about the clocks - more about the temps, noise and reliability.
Just looking for a cheap card that I can slap in my case and run out the box- I'm upgrading from a R9 280.
@ImprovizoR
I mean I have a R5 so space isn't an issue and I don't think I would do a new LAN build or anything any time soon.
Just want something cheap and easy.
I think that i would go with the EVGA probably.
But the Zotac´s are also fine.
I dont think that you realy could go wrong with either of those 2.
Well that's interesting because the poster above is recommending the Palit for the double fans..
I'm aware of EVGAs decent rep. , but less so that of Palit and Zotac which is why I am posting this.
So yes, all opinions are useful in this regard, I'm not looking to purchase immediately either - I will probably wait after the full release anyway, but good to look up now.
Yeah i think the best thing to do is lookup for some reviews about certain cards that you have your eye on.
And mainly look at accoustic and temperature side of things mainly.
From what I've looked up, there's only the EVGA and the 'big 3' with Asus, MSI and Gigabyte being reviewed so far in detail.
That wasn't a recommendation. I said personally it's what I would go for because I like the option to put it in a smaller case for LAN parties. And that's only IF I didn't care about overclocking. But as I do, I usually go for triple fan models when available.
Can't argue with that...

This monster is inside my case...
I got your point, for the size, but i wanted to point out the benefit of extra fans...
Here is a better choice ....
Don't buy Nvidia right now. Send them a message as a consumer that what they are doing the past few years is horrid.

Yeah, they will feel so bad, while releasing 1200$ Titan... So bad...
If you are totally sold on Team Grean, go EVGA. They do their best to treat their customers well. They also have the upgrade policy so if you wanted to uptier to a 1070 later you can.
And their cards are less tacky than other's.

Ok thanks - I might also consider dishing out a little extra for the SC edition as well - just the single fan model surprised me and I imagine the SSC might be a bit too much.
@DeViLzzz
Just looking for a decent GPU for my price margin - I don't care about some moral market crusade.
My previous 2 GPUs have been AMD models; HD6870 and R9 280 respectively so I've never cared about the brand or 'Team Green vs Red' and such things.
I just go for the best GPU for me - that appears to be the GTX 1060 over the RX 480 for myself so I don't view choosing otherwise for that sake as the 'better choice', sorry.
