Can anyone t
ell me if there is a good ppa for linux mint/ubuntu (using linux mint 17.3) with the latest amd gpu drivers for the new r9 300 series cards? (I have an r9 380)
There's not one with the latest drivers. I went through the pain of manually installing the Crimson drivers & other than the name I couldn't tell any differences.
I just wanted VSR & thought it would be in the Crimson Linux release, & it wasn’t.
Drivers for Linux needs some major improvements. Maybe they’re waiting on Wayland to be implemented.
Just wait a week or two for the linux 4.4 kernel. That should have built in support for AMDGPU drivers for tonga chips.
Worst case scenario is you will have to compile the kernel yourself to include AMDGPU support.
