Graphics Card

Hey guys im looking to build my first gaming PC and need some advice on what Graphics card to get.  I'm looking for the best card i can get for around 150 id love to pay less but want to pay no more than 170.  Thanks for any advice.

I presume this is dollars (and not our own good British pounds) and work accordingly. For 170 dollars you can pick up an Nvidia 650 ti boost edition, which is super snappy for the price tag. You get some extra bandwith and this card will run recent games like Far Cry 3 at about 40- 50 fps on high details which is very respectable for the price.

If you can scrimp/find a good saleI would look into some of the cheaper 7850s. (I got an xfx 7870 in the uk for the equivalent of about 170 dollars, which is amazing.) So those two lines of enquiry are worth a look in.Right now you can pick up a 7850 on new egg for 170 dollars and get Blood Dragon, Bioshock and Tomb Raider, which is an incredible bundle so I'd probably go with that.

When building, research is your friend. Youtube is an amazing source for video reviews from sights like this, and i personally use Toms Hardware a lot to compare different models although I've heard it said on the Tek that Logan hates it, still, I welcome his wrath.

Also if your intention is gaming then I personally prefer to stick as much of a budget into my gpu as possible, as its that component that will deteremine our performance in the majority of games. If you were thinking of getting an SSD as a boot drive I'd advise not doing so and putting that extra few dollars into the best card you can possibly get. Hope your build goes well.
